Overview
Paul Connor's practice is inspired by the landscape and landscape painting. He was the founding director of the NSW Parliament Plein Air Painting Prize which helped reposition en plein air painting to the fore of contemporary Australian art practice. His passion for the environment has seen him become a Trustee of The Australian Museum and of the Lizard Island Reef Research Station.

His undergraduate degrees were in architecture, after which he gained admission to the masters program at Columbia University in New York. He instead opted for a masters of fine art at the College of Fine Art, University of New South Wales and graduated with first class honours.

Connor has been a finalist in numerous art awards including, the Glover Prize, Mosman Art Prize, Calleen Art Award, Korean Australian Art Foundation (KAAF) Art Prize and was the recipient of the Broken Hill Regional Gallery Pro Hart Outback Prize in 2024.

His work is represented in public and private collections in Australia, Hong Kong and England and he has work currently hanging in the Australian Embassy in Beijing.
