Joe Furlonger is regarded as one of Australia’s most respected landscape painters. He is a nine time finalist in the Archibald Prize, winner of the Moet & Chandon Fellowship and the Fleurieu Art Prize for Landscape.

Furlonger’s work oscillates between figuration and abstraction. His paintings often depict the expansive, semi-arid regions of the Australian landscape and the harbours of Southern Queensland and Northern New South Wales.

Joe Furlonger’s work is represented in the National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria, Queensland Art Gallery, Art Gallery of NSW and the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney, as well as numerous private collections. A major survey exhibition of his work, Horizons, was held at the Queensland Art Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) in 2022.
