Anna Johnson

Born in London and spending the majority of her working life in New York, Johnson is a writer and painter. Abstract art has been her professional and creative focus lifelong.

A committed colourist, she works on a large scale across mediums, attributing her key influences to a Manhattan childhood steeped in Abstraction, her visual education as a writer and over a decade of visits to Kyoto where she returns to the same Machiya each year to study and paint.

Transitioning from writer to a full-time studio based art practice in 2020, Johnson has held a series of highly successful solo shows, most recently at SlotProjects in Sydney. Her work is held in private collections both here and overseas.
