With a practice spanning almost twenty years, Alison Mackay's still lifes and portraiture have been shown extensively throughout Australia. She is a nine times finalist in the Portia Geach Memorial Award, a finalist in the NSW Parliament's Plein Air Painting Prize, Gallipoli Art Prize, Archibald Prize, National Still Life Award, Dobell Drawing Prize, Mosman Art Prize, Fisher's Ghost Art Prize, Percival Portrait Prize, Muswellbrook Art Prize and the Black Swan Art Prize. She was the winner of the Gallipoli Art Prize (2020).
Alison works mainly from her studio in Jervis Bay and paints directly from life. Her work is held in private and public collections both here and overseas.
